What Is It Like to See Gurriers Live?

Nobody's Coming To Save You Tour 2026

Five Dubliners walk on to Frankie Valli, open a mosh pit by the second song, and then climb into it themselves, bass guitar and all, for one sweaty, sweary, political hour.

What to Know Before You Go

  • 1
The walk-on is a crooner song

Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" comes over the PA right before they start. Sing it, then get ready, because the pit follows almost straight away.

  • 2
Pick your zone before the lights drop

The pit is not a late-set thing here. It opens on the first or second song and runs to the end.

  • 3
    Barrier means band contact

Bassist Charlie McCarthy takes his bass into the crowd most nights, and guitarist Mark MacCormack has crowd-surfed while playing.

  • 4
    Opener

UK dates in October 2026: Tramhaus. Belfast, the Vicar Street night and the mainland Europe run from Bordeaux on: Enola Gay. The 1 November show in [Dublin](/cities/dublin): Child Of Prague. Spain and Portugal: Really Good Time. The band books friends, and the 2025 support act had people moshing before Gurriers came on.

  • 5
    Bring the friend who emigrated

"Dipping Out" is dedicated to everyone who has left Ireland, and it is the big singalong.

  • 6
    Learn the new record

The title track of *Nobody's Coming To Save You* opened their Electric Picnic 2026 set, and "Crybaby", "Pins", "Party Lines" and "Nothing Happens Twice" are all in rotation.

  • 7
At festivals, get to the tent before their slot

Their set at The Great Escape in May 2026 drew one of the weekend's biggest queues.

  • 8
    Leave the kids at home

Mark MacCormack's own words: "I don't know if we're necessarily the most family-friendly band." Expect swearing and a pit from start to finish.

  • 9
    Merch

Shirts are named after songs, and a couple of designs have already sold out online. Details in the Merch section.

What It's Actually Like

The Pit Opens Before You've Found Your Feet

There is no warm-up period at a Gurriers show. At MOTH Club in November 2024 a pit formed almost immediately after the opener "Nausea", and the When The Horn Blows reviewer watched guitarist Mark MacCormack wander into it during "Close Call." In the YES basement the same month, a tiny room with the stage about a foot off the floor, the crowd split for wall-of-death charges more than once (Overblown). At the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth in October 2025, pints were flying and bodies colliding from the first song, "Erasure", and the room was hot and wet by the end (Taped Magazine). If you want to watch rather than shove, stand well back from the middle before the lights go down.

The Band Comes Down to You

Gurriers do not stay on the stage, and it is not only the singer who leaves it. McCarthy is the one to track. He stood on a table at the back of MOTH Club with his bass during "Sign Of The Times", used the bass to cut the pit open in that YES basement, waded into the middle of the crowd at the Scala in March 2025, and at MASH a bouncer had to lift him back out. MacCormack crowd-surfed the Scala while still playing, which got him called "the hardest man in the room." Hoff vaulted the barrier during "Des Goblin" in Portsmouth and once lost his belt-pack mic mid-set and had to be hauled back up (Varsity, November 2025). If you are pressed against the front, at some point a member of the band is going to be on top of you.

“We wanted to capture the live energy we have on stage.”
— Ben O'Neill of Gurriers, The Irish News, September 2026

"Des Goblin" Is the Top of the Night

"Des Goblin" is their most played song live, 126 times on setlist.fm, and it is the one reviewers keep describing as the peak. It does something clever: the bridge drops into slow motion, and the pit stops shoving and starts swaying. At MOTH Club the crowd swayed around McCarthy before the song kicked back in. At the Scala the same bridge built into fists in the air and a wave rolling across the floor (When The Horn Blows). On the 2025 tour it sat in a closing three with "Approachable" and "Nausea", the stretch Breaking Glass Magazine called the "heavy hitters." Save some energy for it.

Short, Sweary and Pointed on the Mic

Hoff is not a storyteller between songs. He is a hype man with a Dublin accent and opinions. At the Scala the greeting was too sweary to print in full, and the goodbye was a promise: "We're going to come back again, bigger…and better." When they drop the tempo he announces it ("We're going to slow it down for a bit," before "Prayers"), and when he restarts the pit he tells people to "look after each other." "Approachable" gets played as an anti-fascist song, and the band calls new single "Erasure" "an unwavering cry into the void in the face of imperialism and tyranny." At Electric Picnic 2026 he stopped to dedicate a song to Castleblayney in County Monaghan, and the Hot Press reviewer said it drew one of the loudest reactions of the set. Come for slogans and swearing, not anecdotes.

A Mixed Crowd That Picks People Up

Ages are all over the place. In Portsmouth the Taped reviewer saw teenagers next to older punks, and in Toronto in March 2026 BeatRoute saw all ages, with plenty of Kneecap shirts on the floor. The pit is rough but friendly. At their 2023 Latitude set, the Brighton and Hove News reviewer called it "the most boisterous crowd that I encountered throughout our three days here", then added that fallen fans got picked straight back up and "It was all fun with no malice." You leave soaked, slightly bruised, and having hauled at least one stranger back onto their feet.

Nobody's Coming To Save You Tour (2026)

The second album, Nobody's Coming To Save You, came out on 25 September 2026 on Play It Again Sam, and the tour around it moves the band from clubs into theatres. A September swing through the US took in Levitation, a 30-minute slot on the Radical Stage at Riot Fest on 19 September, and four club dates in Texas, Georgia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The UK headline leg opened on 14 October, then come Belfast and two Dublin nights, then 24 mainland European dates running to 9 December in the Netherlands.

The New Record Arrives at the Front of the Set

At Electric Picnic 2026 the band came out after a short intro and went straight into the title track. Hot Press heard "almost-metal" riffs and a pit that lasted the whole set, and called the show "both chaotic and orchestrated," with band and crowd seeming to agree on when to hold back and when to surge. The new songs are not a toilet-break stretch: "Nothing Happens Twice" and "Erasure" have already been played around 70 times each since debuting in 2025. The older spine of "Des Goblin", "Top of the Bill", "Approachable", "Nausea" and "Come and See" is still there, so nobody leaves without the songs that built the crowd.

Up From the Clubs

In 2025 the biggest headline rooms were the Scala and a sold-out pair of December club nights at home. This time it is Electric Brixton, Vicar Street, a Dublin theatre night on 1 November and, in Belfast, the Ulster Hall. MacCormack made the Belfast date a dare: "We sold out the Limelight last year so would love to push and do the same for the Ulster Hall." Reviews of the October headline dates are not in yet, so how the club-show chaos translates to a theatre floor is still to be reported.

The Support Acts Are Mates

MacCormack is blunt about how they pick openers: "We want to bring out friends of ours. They're sick and they're going to warm the crowd up and keep us on our toes." Belfast band Enola Gay earned their run the hard way, according to him: they "burst into our gaff with a crate of beers… then gave us a gig in Belfast like three weeks later." Enola Gay are on the Irish dates and most of Europe. Tramhaus have the UK leg. On recent form the support set is worth turning up for: in 2025, NERVES had moshers going before the headliners were even on.

What's Exclusive

The shirts are named after songs rather than the tour: a "Nausea" tee, a "Dipping Out" long-sleeve and a Nobody's Coming To Save You tee. The collector piece is a limited-edition, signed Nobody's Coming to Save You film poster on the band's own webstore. The black Come and See vinyl is sold out there; the new album is sold through the Play It Again Sam store.

The Strategy

Designs do sell out online. The "Nausea" tee and the Come and See vinyl were both marked sold out on the band store in October 2026, so if one of those turns up on the stand, it may be your best shot at it.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's a short, loud, noisy-guitar post-punk show from a Dublin five-piece who treat the crowd as part of the band. Dan Hoff keeps the talk to sweary one-liners and anti-fascist dedications, and the songs that built the crowd, "Des Goblin" and "Approachable" among them, are fixtures, each logged well over 100 times on setlist.fm.

About an hour for the headline set, with no encore on the 2025 tour. Festival slots can be shorter: their Riot Fest 2026 set was 30 minutes.

Wear something you don't mind getting soaked in beer and sweat. Reviewers describe thrown pints and hot, humid rooms. In Toronto, BeatRoute noticed the floor wearing other Irish bands' shirts, Kneecap's among them, so a band tee fits right in.
