What Is It Like to See Panchiko Live?
Five men from Nottingham play a demo CD that turned up in a charity shop 16 years after they made it, and a pit full of teenagers screams every word back.
What to Know Before You Go
- 1Learn the old demo songs first.
"D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L," "Laputa," "All They Wanted" and "Kicking Cars," all from the 1997 to 2001 demos, close nearly every show, and that run is where the whole room sings.
- 2Don't yell for "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L" at song two.
It's coming near the end. When a fan shouted for it at a 2023 show, Andy Wright said they'd play it "when we feel like playing" it.
- 3The people tuning onstage are the band.
Panchiko set up their own gear in front of you before the set, and fans have cheered the guitar checks.
- 4Opener on the October 2026 UK and EU dates
Alison's Halo, a shoegaze band Panchiko crowds already know from the 2025 US tour.
- 5The bigger rooms get physical.
The pit at the Paramount in [Brooklyn](/cities/brooklyn) in May 2025 was packed to the barricade, and an Anaheim show in May 2026 had mosh pits and crowd surfing. If you want to stand still, stay back from the barricade.
- 6Don't wait around for an encore.
The demo run at the end is the end of the night; see [how the set builds](#everything-builds-to-the-old-demos).
- 7Some old favorites are gone for now.
Fans on the spring 2026 US leg noticed "Sodium Chloride" and "The Eyes of Ibad" weren't played.
- 8Limited vinyl is the thing to grab.
The tees stay on the band's Bandcamp, but the special vinyl pressings sell out.

What It's Actually Like
They Tune Up in Front of You
There's no curtain and no big walk-on. The band comes out one at a time in the half hour before the set to plug in their own pedals, and at the Hollywood Palladium in 2025 every member who appeared got a scream. At Thekla in Bristol in November 2023, the gear still wasn't ready at start time, so they fiddled with keyboards and guitars while emo classics played over the PA, then came back to a fanfare. In Anaheim in May 2026, fans cheered the sound and video crew while they waited. Andy Wright saw this coming at the 2021 comeback show, joking that the gig would just be "five old men tuning guitars."
Three Guitars, Not Tape Hiss
If you know Panchiko from the warped, hissy demo uploads, the live band will surprise you. It's a five-piece with three guitars, and the old songs hit harder: at Thekla a fuzz pedal roughed up "Stabilisers For Big Boys" and the drums bounced from wall to wall. Owain Davies sings through two microphones, one clean and one higher-gain mic with a sampler, so he can put the lo-fi grit back on a line when he wants it. Reviewers keep saying his voice beats the record: "more powerful and thicker" at the Vermont Hollywood in May 2023, and belting on "Kicking Cars" in Tempe in June 2025. Davies has admitted they can't recreate the tape sound and don't try. A fan at the April 2026 show in Chicago said the band told the room they don't use backing tracks.
“We don't have a record label. It's mad we're here.”
Everything Builds to the Old Demos
The newer songs come first, and the night climbs toward the demo the internet found. Since the 2025 album Ginkgo, the show opens with "Stabilisers for Big Boys," "Stuck" and "Ginkgo," and ends on "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L," "Laputa," "All They Wanted" and "Kicking Cars." That closing run was the same at First Avenue in June 2025, in Chicago in April 2026 and at Paradiso in October 2026. Then "Laputa," the slow piano one, cuts the volume: at the 40 Watt Club in Athens in fall 2025, the room went quiet and swayed. "Kicking Cars" closed every show we checked, from the 2021 comeback to Amsterdam in 2026. Don't stand around waiting for an encore; at Thekla in 2023 and the Button Factory in March 2025, there wasn't one.
Silly Sausages and Shoes on the Keyboard
The stage talk is short, British and a little baffled that any of this is happening. At the Palladium, Davies called the crowd "silly sausages" before "Laputa." At their 2025 album-release show in Nottingham, he looked out and said, "This is weird... Maybe some of you have bumped into us in the street or whatever." In Chicago in April 2026, Wright took off his shoes and parked them on top of his keyboard. The earnest moment is usually a thank-you for caring about songs they made "years ago." At the Vermont Hollywood in 2023 it was "You made it happen by listening to us," right before "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L."
Teenagers Up Front, Dads at the Back
The crowd skews very young for a band that formed in 1997. A 22-year-old reviewer at House of Blues Anaheim in May 2026 described the room as "almost entirely" Gen Alpha teenagers in anime shirts and piercings, and said it was the first time a concert made them feel old. In Athens a reviewer met two 16-year-olds and a 14-year-old there with her dad, and the 16-year-olds said they'd found the band through the Spotify algorithm. Wright's own description of the back of the room is "a row of angry dads," and at Pitchfork London in November 2025 Clash watched "grown men clambering to reach the barrier." Everybody sings, though: one Chicago reviewer wrote that during "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L," "everybody around me was singing like their lives depended on it."
Panchiko Live 2026 (2026)
The 2026 tour runs in two halves: a US leg from April 16 to mid-May, and a European, UK and Irish leg from October 7 to 31. The October run started at Le Botanique in Brussels and Paradiso in Amsterdam, then hits Rock City in Nottingham on October 22, the Roundhouse in London on October 24, and Vicar Street in Dublin on October 31. The Roundhouse's own listing calls this the band's "fourth sold-out tour."
Second Nights and a Sold-Out Roundhouse
The spring leg added extra nights: two at House of Blues in Chicago, and four House of Blues Anaheim dates in May on setlist.fm. In London it's the Roundhouse, with doors at 7 PM, an 11 PM curfew, and tickets at £36 to £43 (about $48 to $58) including fees. Under-14s there have to be with an adult and stay in the seated areas.
What the Spring US Leg Felt Like
At House of Blues Anaheim on May 7, 2026, the line ran close to half a mile in 80-degree heat. When the band walked on, big white "Panchiko" letters with an inflatable element rose at the front of the stage. Openers Clarion and Dead Calm already had people moshing. During Panchiko's set there were mosh pits, crowd surfers, bubbles drifting over the floor, and several Garfield bags thrown onstage (Robert Harris held one up). For the closing songs the room turned into a sea of phone lights and waving arms. At the end, the reviewer wrote, "blood was shed over setlists." In Chicago, one fan drove in from Michigan and another got there two hours early to claim the front.
“We don't have a record label. It's mad we're here.”
New Songs in the Middle
The middle of the set keeps moving. At the Orlando show on April 21, setlist.fm marked an untitled new song in seventh place, and by Chicago a week later that slot was "Overwrite." By Amsterdam in October, "Georgia" and "One Car" had appeared in the middle, two titles that weren't in the spring sets. If you saw the US leg, the October show won't be identical.
Openers
Alison's Halo is on the bill at the Roundhouse and played Paradiso with CJ's Mirra Maze. Alison's Halo already has a reputation with this crowd: a reviewer at the Tempe show in June 2025 called their support set "the best I've ever seen live." In spring 2026 the US openers rotated: Clarion and Dead Calm in Anaheim, sundots in Chicago.

What's Exclusive
Limited vinyl is what collectors chase. The band's Bandcamp lists eleven sold-out vinyl and cassette runs, most of them D>E>L>U>X>E>M>E>T>A>L variants (four-color sets, a "Poshest" edition, a 25th-anniversary pressing), along with a gold splatter Ferric Oxide and a "super shiny turbo" Failed At Math(s). The spring 2025 tour poster was a large screen print designed by Aaron Draplin. Outside the Hollywood Palladium in 2025, street vendors sold unofficial shirts.
Prices
These are the official Bandcamp store prices in pounds, rounded to dollars. Prices at the venue table haven't been documented.
- Tour tees: $27 (£20).
- T-shirts: $29-34 (£22-25) for the DEATHMETAL cover tees, the glow-in-the-dark script logo tee and the Devil Cat Turbo tee.
- Pinkchiko glow-in-the-dark tee: $21 (£16).
- Vinyl: $32-36 (£24-27) for Ginkgo, Failed At Math(s) and Ferric Oxide.
- CDs: $17 (£13).
The Strategy
You don't have to stress about shirts. The tees are on Bandcamp all year, so the venue table isn't your only chance. The pressings are a different story: every D>E>L>U>X>E>M>E>T>A>L variant and the light grey DEATHMETAL hoodie are listed as sold out, so if a limited pressing turns up at the table, that's the thing to buy that night.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's a loud five-piece guitar band playing songs most of the crowd first heard online as lo-fi demos, with three guitars where the tapes had hiss. The floor is mostly teenagers who know every word of "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L."
Panchiko play for 1h 15m to 1h 20m, usually 17 to 18 songs. setlist.fm logged the April 2026 Chicago show at 8:05 PM to 9:25 PM.
In 2026 they went on 5 to 15 minutes after the posted set time: 8:05 PM against 8:00 PM in Chicago, and 9:15 PM against 9:00 PM in Amsterdam. With two openers on the bill they've gone on as late as 10 PM, so check your venue's set times on the day.
Not according to the band. A fan at the April 2026 Chicago show said the band told the room they don't. Live, they're heavier than the recordings, and Owain Davies uses a second distorted microphone to bring back the lo-fi sound on certain lines.
Yes, if you love the EP. The demo songs come out heavier and louder with three guitars, and hearing a room full of teenagers shout lyrics from a 2000 CD is the whole point. If you mostly want the newer *Ginkgo* material, the title track comes third and more *Ginkgo* songs sit in the middle.
"D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L" is the peak: setlist.fm counts it as their most-played song, at 146 performances. "Laputa" is the quiet one, "Kicking Cars" is the one everyone shouts, and at the 40 Watt Club in 2025 phones went up at the first chord of "Ginkgo."
Yes, and plenty of them go. A 14-year-old came with her dad to the 40 Watt Club in 2025, and in Anaheim in 2026 the crowd was almost all teenagers. Check your venue's age rules first: the Roundhouse keeps under-14s in seated areas with an adult.
The rooms are bigger than in 2024 and the set is newer. In 2024 the show still leaned on demo-era songs like "Think That's Too Wise." By 2026, *Ginkgo* songs and new songs like "Overwrite" fill the middle.
