What Is It Like to See Only The Poets Live?
A Reading band whose singer drops the whole room to the floor for the last song and counts it back up, after two of them have played a ballad from the middle of the crowd.
What to Know Before You Go
- 1Save your legs for the end
"JUMP!" and then "Emotional" close the night, and "Emotional" is the floor drop (see Fan Culture below). It's also where the mosh pit opens, if there is one.
- 2Make a sign
Tommy reads them out, and on the 2026 tour a fan request becomes a cover most nights (details in the tour section below).
- 3Opener
Nobody is named yet for the November and December 2026 dates. The spring 2026 leg had two, Tommy Lyon and Murdo Mitchell, and both had fans of their own in the room; [Amsterdam](/cities/amsterdam) fans even gave Mitchell a joke CD player.
- 4Watch the floor
From 2023 through 2025, Tommy Longhurst and guitarist Clem Cherry walked into the crowd with one guitar for a quiet song, and people formed a circle so everyone could see.
- 5Learn the new ones
The crowd sings unreleased songs back. In Nijmegen in April 2025 the room nearly knew all the words to "Saké" before it was out.
- 6The quiet stretch is the point
"It's Okay (Not To Be Okay)" and "Waking in the Dark" come with a talk about reaching out. Strangers hug. Don't use it as your bar break.
- 7Under 18
Bring the paperwork if the venue asks. The Warsaw club in April 2026 had guardian forms for minors, and this crowd skews young.

What It's Actually Like
The Old Singles Never Left
The setlist changes by era, but the earliest songs hang on. "Emotional," from the early demos era, is their most played song at 186 performances on setlist.fm, ahead of "Looking at You" (173), "Every Song I Ever Wrote" (169), "JUMP!" (146) and "Nana's House" (137), and it has closed almost every headline show we found since 2023. In Nijmegen in April 2025 the band introduced "Nana's House" as a tribute to their earliest fans. At the Deaf Institute in Manchester in 2023, The Mancunion was surprised the room knew every word of "Ceasefire," their very first single. At the same time the crowd learns new songs before they exist on Spotify: in Nijmegen people nearly had all of "Saké" and "Emotionally Hungover" down while both were unreleased, and at the O2 Academy Birmingham in June 2024 "Mindset" and "Bump in the Night" went in before release. So you'll hear the demos era and next month's single in the same night. The end is fixed: "JUMP!" then "Emotional."
Sometimes Two of Them End Up Next to You
At some point the stage gets quieter and Tommy and Clem Cherry aren't on it. At the Shepherd's Bush Empire in May 2023 they walked into the crowd with no mics for "every god I pray to," and the floor closed in around them. At the Fleece in Bristol in August 2024 the crowd formed a circle in the middle for "Black And Blue" so everyone could see. In Birmingham that June a young fan cried during the same song and Clem gave her his picks. "Waking in the Dark" took the slot in Nijmegen in 2025. At Paradiso in April 2026 the pair played it as a duo, and that review doesn't say they left the stage, so don't bank on it every night. When it happens, the back of the floor can end up with the better view.
“we live in a painful world and this brings us together.”
The Mental Health Songs Come With a Talk
Tommy introduces "It's Okay (Not To Be Okay)" and "Waking in the Dark" with a talk, and he means it. "You are never ever alone," he told the Deaf Institute crowd in 2023. "Someone will always listen if you reach out," in Birmingham in 2024. In Bristol friends leaned on each other and held hands, and in Warsaw that July a reviewer saw most of the crowd tearing up and hugging whoever was beside them. It sits alongside pride flags: Tommy draped one over his shoulders for "Ceasefire" in Berlin in February 2024, and in Nijmegen in 2025 a rainbow flag thrown on stage during "Every Song I Ever Wrote" went straight round his neck. At Paradiso in April 2026 the line was "be vulnerable, because that should be celebrated."
Four Mates Who Can't Stand Still
Longhurst's Instagram bio calls him "The hyperactive one in Only The Poets," and in Prague on 25 April 2026 he lived up to it, throwing his guitar across the stage and finishing the last song with it over his head. The rest of the band don't hang back. In Prague bassist Andy "Roo" Burge and Clem jumped into the pit still holding their instruments, and drummer Marcus Yates rode out the final song on Burge's back. They wind each other up on the mic: in Warsaw in 2024 Marcus teased the old single "Stolen Bikes" on the drums before Tommy shut it down with "Andy doesn't like that song," then led an England football chant the night before the Euro 2024 final. At Paradiso in April 2026 all four wore orange socks a fan had given them for King's Day. At Colours Hoxton in London in 2023 Tommy gave each of them a spotlight moment and the room cheered each one "for minutes."
Who's Standing Next to You
Young, loud and mostly female. Reflections of Darkness put the Frankfurt crowd in April 2026 at about 90% women, with "constant high-pitched screams" from the support slot on. Plenty of parents too: Maxazine described teenagers and their parents side by side in Nijmegen. Reviewers in Nijmegen and Bristol both credit the band's rise to supporting Louis Tomlinson, who picked them for his BRITs week show in 2020 and took them on tour in 2022, and the pre-show playlist in Birmingham and Bristol in 2024 was One Direction and Taylor Swift. Fans cross borders for them. People came from Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands for a small Birmingham show in September 2025, and in Warsaw in 2024 some queued from early morning in the sun for the barricade. The band notices: a Copenhagen fan on Bandsintown wrote that "They really take time to talk to fans before and after the show which was a bonus!"
And I'd Do It Again Tour (2026)
The tour for their debut album, And I'd Do It Again, released 30 January 2026 on Capitol. It started with a launch week (a Manchester Club Academy show and signing, a "4 gigs at 4 pubs" all-dayer in Reading, signings in Southampton and Birmingham) and the £1 night at O2 Academy Brixton on 2 February. A nine-date European leg ran from Frankfurt on 16 April to Paradiso in Amsterdam on 29 April, then festival and support slots through summer, including opening the Maroon 5 and OneRepublic day at BST Hyde Park on 3 July, where Tommy said playing Hyde Park had always felt like "an impossible dream." The autumn run restarted in Paris on 16 September and continues into December.
What a Night Looks Like Right Now
The lights drop to the instrumental title track and "I Keep On Messing It Up" opens; at Brixton that ended in a burst of red confetti. After about ten songs there's a fixed cover of "Torn" (older fans in Amsterdam sang along hardest), then a slot that fans fill from their signs. In Prague on 25 April 2026 someone asked for Kings of Leon's "Sex On Fire," nobody in the band knew the chords, so they borrowed a phone from the crowd, looked them up and played it; Melodic Magazine's reviewer called it the moment the night was won. Four days later in Amsterdam Clem didn't know "Angels," so they played "Wonderwall" while he practised, then did "Angels" anyway. setlist.fm shows "Teenage Dirtbag" in Warsaw, "Murder on the Dancefloor" and "Fix You" in Vienna, "Like a Prayer" into "Livin' on a Prayer" in Hamburg and "DAISIES" in Munich. In Paris on 16 September 2026 an attendee logged "Seven Nation Army" as "launched by the fans," and "Waking in the Dark" as a choice song. There's usually a surprise older track too: "Nana's House" in Frankfurt was picked by VIP fans, and "Even Hell" turned up in Prague and Amsterdam. Fans in Amsterdam held up paper notes to the band during "Guess She's Cool" and pointed at Roo and Clem through "Looking at You."
One More Fright: The Halloween Covers Night
They do Halloween. One More Fright played Markthalle Hamburg on 30 October 2026 (doors 7pm, band 8pm, €35 presale), with a Halloween Special at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on 31 October. The flyers with early-access QR codes went out after the Paradiso show in April. The Hamburg setlist on setlist.fm is 26 entries long and 12 of them are covers: "Men in Black" on tape to start, Tame Impala's "Dracula," Billie Eilish's "bad guy," a "Phantom of the Opera" snippet, "Vampire," "Espresso," "Mr. Brightside," a bit of "Thriller," "As It Was," and "Stayin' Alive" over the PA at the end, all threaded through their own songs and still finishing on "JUMP!," "One More Night" and "Emotional." The band had already floated a One More Fright night for Rotterdam back in 2024. If you can get to one, it's a different show.
The Winter Run: Nordics, Germany, Then Hackney
After a Reading Sub89 show on 6 November, the tour heads to Copenhagen's Lille VEGA (23 November), Stockholm's Nalen (24) and Helsinki's Korjaamo (26), then Ostrava and a long German stretch from Göttingen on 1 December through Nuremberg, Kiel, Bremen, Bielefeld, Dortmund, Freiburg, Augsburg and Aschaffenburg to Erfurt on 15 December. It ends at Oslo Hackney in London on 17 December. These are smaller rooms than the spring leg's Docks and Batschkapp. One Berlin fan already thought they'd outgrown that size: "Die Jungs könnten sicher auch eine größere Location füllen" ("the boys could surely fill a bigger venue"), Monika wrote on Bandsintown after the Kesselhaus in 2025.

Merch
The official web store sells a small range, priced in euros. OTP Logo Tee: €30. Mindset Tee: €40. Mindset tank top: €40. Tote bags: €19 to €20. Poster: €10. We couldn't find reliable fan reports on what the venue stand carries, how fast it sells or how the shirts hold up, so we're not guessing. The best free merch is at the barricade: picks and setlists went to the front row in Prague in April 2026, and Clem handed his picks to a fan in Birmingham in 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's a jumping, screaming indie pop show in club-sized rooms, played to a young crowd that knows every word. Expect the new album up front, a couple of covers, older favourites like "Nana's House," and "JUMP!" into "Emotional" to finish.
Headline sets run 1h 15m to 1h 45m, usually 17 to 23 songs. Brixton in February 2026 was a 90-minute set; festival and support slots are much shorter, nine songs and 30 minutes at BST Hyde Park.
Around 9pm at mainland European headline shows. They were on at 9:00pm in Bruges in September 2026, at 21:00 in Nijmegen and at Paradiso, and earlier in Warsaw in April 2026, at 7:30pm.
Yes. Every attended review we found was positive, from four stars in The Boar at Birmingham in 2024 to Reflections of Darkness describing Frankfurt in 2026 as a "massive choir," and the winter 2026 run puts them back in small clubs.
"Emotional" is the event, "JUMP!" sets it up, and "Every Song I Ever Wrote" and "Emotionally Hungover" got the loudest response in Frankfurt in April 2026. "Ceasefire," their first single, is the phone-torch song.
Mostly the album in 2026, but every night has a few older songs. "Looking at You," "Every Song I Ever Wrote," "Bad" and "One More Night" are fixtures, and a surprise older track rotates in, like "Even Hell" in Prague and Amsterdam in April 2026.
No opener is announced for the November and December 2026 dates yet. The spring 2026 European leg had Tommy Lyon and Murdo Mitchell, and the Brixton show in February had unsigned acts SEREN and Belle Dame.
Teenagers fit right in, and Maxazine described teens and their parents side by side in Nijmegen. Check the venue: the Warsaw club in April 2026 asked for a guardian form for minors.
Often, informally. A Copenhagen fan on Bandsintown said they "really take time to talk to fans before and after the show,". On the 2026 tour, VIP fans picked the surprise song in Frankfurt.
The 2026 shows open on the instrumental title track and lean on the album, and they add the nightly request cover. In 2024 the set opened on "Crash," had unreleased songs like "Mindset," and put "Black And Blue" in the crowd, with "One More Night," "Ceasefire" and "Emotional" as the encore.
