What Is It Like to See Nickelback Live?

Everything Under The Sun Tour 2027

A stranger in a bedazzled hat singing lead on "Rockstar," shot breaks with a roadie in the middle of the set, and Chad Kroeger telling a packed arena that people have been trying to cancel this band for 20 years.

What to Know Before You Go

  • 1
    Want to sing "Rockstar"?

A fan gets pulled up for it nearly every night, and the picks go to people who stand out. Details in [Fan Culture](#fan-culture-and-traditions).

  • 2
    Opener for 2027: [Don Broco](/artists/don-broco).

The British band are on the majority of dates, and they cut their single "Nightmare Tripping" with Nickelback members, so watch for a crossover.

  • 3
The drinking is part of the set.

Shot breaks on stage, beer cups flying out and T-shirt cannons. You watch it, you don't have to join it.

  • 4
Kroeger roasts the band before you can.

"They've been trying to cancel us for 20 years" is the general idea most nights.

  • 5
    Expect cowboy hats.

Since 2023 Nickelback have toured with country openers and co-headlined country festivals with Kid Rock, and Louder's reviewer on the 2024 UK run spotted "more than a few cowboy hats."

  • 6
    Learn "San Quentin."

It has opened nearly every show since 2023, so it's the first thing you'll hear.

  • 7
Tour shirts tend to land online later.

No need to queue unless you want it tonight. See [Merch](#merch).

What It's Actually Like

Kroeger Gets To The Hate Jokes First

You came to a Nickelback show, and the guy holding the mic knows exactly what people say about that. He gets there first. "Yeah, some of you are just going to write shitty comments because 'Nickelback'," he told the OVO Hydro on the opening night of the 2024 UK run (Moshville Times). In Phoenix in July 2023 he set up "Figured You Out" with "I'm going to play a song that would probably get us canceled today. But then again, they've been trying to cancel us for twenty years" (Burning Hot Events). It plays as a wink rather than a grudge, and the Georgia Straight's reviewer in 2015 found fans plainly amused by his antics. Taped Magazine's reviewer on the 2024 UK run summed up the band in three words: "loved to be hated."

"Photograph" Starts Small And Ends Loud

"Photograph" has been in every average setlist since 2006 (setlist.fm), and it's staged like a slow reveal. It opens stripped down and mostly acoustic, then the lights crank up for a full-volume last chorus (Radio X; Moshville Times). Behind the band, the screen runs goofy old Polaroids of the members, the way it did at the 2015 hometown show (Georgia Straight). Kroeger usually gets the internet joke out of the way first: at an Ohio amphitheater on August 9, 2023, he introduced it as "Look at This Graph" (Backward Noise). "Depending on what generation you're from, this song means something very different to you," he told a California crowd a month earlier (Riff Magazine).

“They've been trying to cancel us for 20 years... we're still here!”
— Chad Kroeger, May 2024 (Louder)

The Last Song Comes With Fire

"Burn It to the Ground" ended every analyzed show in 2024 and 2025, and 52 of 54 in 2023, with "Gotta Be Somebody" opening the encore and "How You Remind Me" closing the main set (setlist.fm). So when "How You Remind Me" ends, stay put. Riff Magazine logged "fiery effects" on the closer in Mountain View in July 2023, and in Phoenix the pyro was still going "at the end of the night" (Burning Hot Events). On the Dark Horse tour the same song opened the show instead, and at the Vancouver finale on June 3, 2010, the flames were hot enough to warm the faces of the first ten rows (The Globe and Mail).

There's Always A Cover, And It's Never The Same One

Every era of this band has a cover in the set, and the choice tells you which era you're in. In May 2009 it was AC/DC's "Highway to Hell," with Black Stone Cherry's Chris Robertson taking lead vocals at The O2 Arena (Get Ready to Rock). In 2015 Kroeger and guitarist Ryan Peake led acoustic singalongs of the Eagles' "Hotel California" and Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69" at the hometown show (CTV Vancouver; Georgia Straight). On the 2024 UK run it was Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger," with Peake singing next to openers The Lottery Winners (Radio X). The 2025 festival sets swapped in Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" (setlist.fm). Drummer Daniel Adair's solo has been logged 321 times (setlist.fm), once played over Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick" (CTV Vancouver).

Built For Singing Along

This crowd wants permission to love these songs out loud, and it takes it. At a sold-out Tinley Park amphitheater in August 2023, Kroeger tried to talk and couldn't be heard over the people singing (Melodies N Memories). He calls "Someday" a "big goddamn karaoke bar" moment (Georgia Straight), and it plays like one. During "Those Days" the screens throw up retro MTV logos and old TV clips (Burning Hot Events), which is the point: this is a night for people who were there the first time. Louder's reviewer described it as a crowd "that likes the idea of The Big Rock Show but find Foo Fighters a bit shouty," and meant it kindly.

Everything Under The Sun Tour (2027)

Nearly 70 dates across North America, Europe and Australia (The Canadian Press), behind the 11th album Everything Under The Sun, out October 30, 2026. Almost all of it is arenas.

Three Legs, Seven Canadian Stops

The North American leg opens February 6 in Pennsylvania and runs through May 1 in San Antonio, with a Mexico date on May 7 (Blabbermouth). Canada gets seven stops, Vancouver included, a hometown night for this band (The Canadian Press; Georgia Straight). The UK and Europe leg runs May 22 to July 13, with The O2 on May 25 and the Hydro on June 1. Australia follows in October, from Perth on the 2nd to a winery show at Roche Estate in Pokolbin on the 16th (Blabbermouth).

Don Broco On Support

Don Broco open most dates; Blabbermouth's listing marks February 27, a Hondo Rodeo Festival slot, as one without them. Their March 2026 single "Nightmare Tripping" features Nickelback members (Blabbermouth), so a shared moment on stage would surprise nobody, though none has been announced.

What Tickets Look Like

UK prices sit around £60 to £140 at most venues, and the Hydro listed premium tickets with fast-track entry at £166 to £186 (Time Out). VIP Nation packages bundle premium seats, a pre-show lounge, VIP-only merch and "a dedicated message from the band" (Blabbermouth). The Spotify Reserved presale in the US and Canada capped each fan at two tickets.

The Set You Should Expect

Lead single "Rattle the Cage," featuring John 5, was reported at number one on US Active Rock radio (Blabbermouth), which makes it the safest bet to join the set. The rest of the spine has barely moved in three years: "San Quentin" up top, "Savin' Me," "Far Away" and "Animals" early, and "Someday," "Photograph" and "Rockstar" in the middle (setlist.fm 2023 to 2025 averages).

What's Exclusive

Each tour gets dated pieces: the 2023 Tour Heather Denim Tee and 2023 Tour Black Hoodie, the "G3t Roll1n" license-plate tour tee and hoodie, and a 2024 European Tour hoodie, hat and poster. The non-tour lines lean into the joke, with "Fan or Liar" tees and hoodies and a "Rockstar Sea Shanty" tee, hoodie and 7-inch. No Everything Under The Sun tour merch was listed as of October 2026 (nickelback.com store).

The Strategy

Past tour gear doesn't vanish. In October 2026 the store still had the 2023 tour tee and hoodie, the license-plate tour pieces and the 2024 European tour hoodie, hat and poster, most of it marked down (a 2023 tour tee for $25), and only one 2024 European tour tee was sold out. If you're torn at the stand, you can probably buy it later for less.
