What Is It Like to See Ocean Colour Scene Live?
Steve Cradock's riffs, a room full of parkas, Simon Fowler alone with an acoustic guitar for "Robin Hood," then the whole crowd taking "The Day We Caught the Train" off the band.
What to Know Before You Go
- 1"Green Onions" means they're walking on.
The Booker T. and the MG's instrumental played the band on at the [Barrowland Ballroom](/venues/barrowland-ballroom) in 2021 and at Cambridge Corn Exchange in 2025. Get back from the bar when the organ starts.
- 2Don't leave before the encore.
Fowler comes back alone on acoustic guitar for "Robin Hood," often folding in a few lines of [Oasis](/artists/oasis)'s "Live Forever," and the full band then closes on "The Day We Caught the Train."
- 3Learn the "Riverboat Song" intro.
Crowds sing over it. At the Barrowland in December 2021 Fowler stood back and let the room carry the opening.
- 4
**This tour plays *Moseley Shoals*, but not in album order.** Cradock says running it in sequence would put the big songs in the first three slots, so expect the 1996 album shuffled in among the other hits.
- 5The Enemy open the UK arena dates.
Tom Clarke's band are on all 13 British shows; the Irish dates list no named support.
- 6Wear the parka if you've got one.
"Mod haircuts and parkas everywhere" is how one [Cardiff](/cities/cardiff) reviewer described the room in 2013.
- 7Don't expect chat.
Fowler says very little between songs, and when he does it's usually about [Birmingham](/cities/birmingham) or the room you're in.
- 8Glasgow does the encore call its own way.
At the O2 Academy [Glasgow](/cities/glasgow) in December 2023 the crowd brought the band back with "Here we, here we, here we fucking go."

What It's Actually Like
You're Here for Cradock's Guitar, Whether You Know It or Not
The riffs are what pull you in, and Steve Cradock plays them like he's still got something to prove. At the Barrowland in December 2021 one reviewer had him in "absolutely blistering form"; another, two nights later, wrote about his "quick fingered wizardry" on "The Circle" and "Hundred Mile High City." At Doncaster Racecourse in August 2017 his "blistering solo" on "Hundred Mile High City" closed the main set to whoops from a crowd in race-day suits and fascinators. In Cardiff in 2013 he didn't wait for a greeting at all: he walked on and hit a riff on his Les Paul. If you've only heard the records, the volume and bite of the guitar is the first surprise.
Fowler Alone Is the Moment the Room Goes Quiet
The encore is where the night turns. Fowler comes back by himself with an acoustic guitar for "Robin Hood," and in Cardiff in 2013 he did it in his "trademark striped top," gurning for the camera phones held up at him. He usually slips a few lines of Oasis's "Live Forever" into the tail, as he did in Cardiff, at Caerphilly Castle in 2016, at Cambridge in April 2025 and in Madrid in September 2026. His voice is most exposed here and you can hear what it costs him: at the Barrowland in 2011 it "cracked with emotion," and at the Eventim Apollo in December 2023 he couldn't speak for a moment after the cheering during his solo spot.
“All Saturday nights should be this uplifting.”
The Same Ten Songs, and That's the Deal
This is not a band that rotates its set. On setlist.fm, "The Day We Caught the Train" has been played 399 times, "The Circle" and "The Riverboat Song" 385 each, "Travellers Tune" 352, "One for the Road" 339, "Profit in Peace" 333 and "Hundred Mile High City" 328, with "Better Day," "Get Blown Away" and "Robin Hood" all at 247 or more. You'll get most of those every night. The variety comes from anniversary runs that drop a whole album into the middle of the show, and from guests: Paul Weller walked on for "The Circle" and "Travellers Tune" at the Apollo in December 2023, with P.P. Arnold singing three songs the same night.
Not Much Talk, Then One Line About Home
Fowler isn't a chatter. At the O2 Academy Glasgow in December 2023 the reviewer noted "no chitter chatter," just the band playing their songs. What he does say tends to be about where they're from. At the 2025 arena show in Birmingham he looked out at the crowd and said "Who'd have thunk it?", a nod to the pubs they started in. At the O2 Academy Birmingham in 2009 he set off a round of boos and then singing by mentioning the Birmingham City versus Aston Villa derby. At the Barrowland in 2021 it was simpler: "Thank you for allowing us to do this for 42 years."
Mods, Britpop Lifers and Their Kids, With Pints
The room skews toward people who lived 1996 the first time, and plenty of them dress for it. At Caerphilly Castle in 2016 a reviewer counted "thousands of mods in euphoric mood." The ages run wide, from about 16 to 60 at the Barrowland in 2011, "school-age kids to grandparents" at Cambridge in 2025. It's a drinking crowd: "The Riverboat Song" got "pints flying and fists pumping" in Cardiff, where a few lads on the edge of trouble missed the anti-war point of "Profit in Peace" entirely. Be honest with yourself about the newer material, too. At Brixton Academy in 2025 the energy "does dip" when the band leave the hits, and in Cardiff people drifted to the bar during the quieter middle stretch.
Scotland Treats Them Like a Home Team
Fowler calls the Barrowland "our spiritual home," and the band have played the Glasgow ballroom more than 60 times. The Scottish following never dropped away after the 1990s, and the band kept booking multi-night December runs there: four Barrowland nights were scheduled from December 14, 2021, and two nights at the O2 Academy Glasgow in December 2023. Fowler's line on it is that Scotland is "like climbing Everest in reverse." If you can choose a city, Glasgow is the one the band themselves pick.
Moseley Shoals 30th Anniversary Tour (2026)
Two nights at Belfast's Ulster Hall on November 14 and 15, three sold-out nights at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on November 17, 18 and 19, then 13 UK arena and big-hall dates from the OVO Hydro on November 21 to a Birmingham homecoming at bp pulse LIVE on December 12, with London's The O2 on December 9. Manager Alan McGee calls it "their biggest in 30 years."
The Album, Shuffled
The 1996 record is the point of the tour, and the UK announcements say the band will play all of Moseley Shoals plus a career-spanning set. Cradock told Spain's DOD Magazine they won't play it in order, joking that if they did, "the gig would practically be over after the first three songs" (the album opens with "The Riverboat Song," "The Day We Caught the Train" and "The Circle"). His own favourites from it are "The Downstream," "Lining Your Pockets" and "Get Away," so those are the deeper cuts to listen for. The lineup is Fowler, Cradock and drummer Oscar Harrison from the original band, with bassist Raymond Meade.
The Enemy Open, and Tom Clarke Is a Fan
The Enemy, from Coventry, support on all 13 UK dates. Tom Clarke put it plainly when the tour was announced: "Every time we share a stage with them it's a childhood dream come true." Ulster Hall lists "special guests" without a name, and 3Olympia lists no support. The 2025 tour paired the band with Kula Shaker, who lit joss sticks across the stage before OCS came on.
The Spanish Warm-Up Gives You a Preview
Before the anniversary run the band played seven Spanish dates in September and October 2026, including a sold-out La Riviera in Madrid that surprised Cradock: "Nothing is guaranteed, so we were surprised to sell out such a great venue." The Madrid set ran 18 songs and went on at 9:05 PM for a 9:00 PM stage time, with "The Downstream" pulled into the encore and "The Riverboat Song" restarted after electric guitar trouble. Expect the arena set to be built on the same bones, with more of Moseley Shoals added.
Tickets and Ages
Ulster Hall tickets were £52 plus a £3 fee (about $70 plus $4), and 3Olympia tickets started at €51 including fees. Standing at both is 16 and over. Dublin sold out all three nights before the tour started.

What's Exclusive
Tour shirts are dated by year. The official online store still had 2025 tour tees in grey, navy and brown in October 2026, and a white 2022 tour mug. The Simon and Oscar acoustic duo run in autumn 2025 had its own limited edition posters. No Moseley Shoals 30th items were listed online yet.
Prices
Official store list prices, in pounds with dollar equivalents:
- Tour tees: $40 (£30).
- Ringer tees: $47 (£35).
- Polo shirts: $54 (£40).
- Hoodies: $67 (£50).
- Bucket hats: $27 (£20).
The Strategy
Missed the shirt? Past tour tees stay in the official store after the dates, and when we checked in October 2026 the whole store was marked down (tees to £18, hoodies to £30). That makes the venue table optional for standard tees. Nobody has reported a venue sell-out or restock pattern.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's a guitar-heavy Britpop night built around the 1996 songs, played to a crowd of mods and lifelong fans who sing most of it back. Cradock's riffs carry the show, Fowler barely talks, and the set leans on the same ten songs most nights.
Plan on 1h 30m to 2h for the headline set. The September 2026 Madrid show ran about an hour and a half; the 2013 album-in-full night in Cardiff ran about two hours.
Mostly hits, with a deep-cut window on anniversary tours. Ten songs have each been played 247 times or more, but the album-in-full runs pull out tracks like "Policemen and Pirates" and "Foxy's Folk Faced," which turned up at Hammersmith in 2016.
Mostly, but it isn't guaranteed every night. The December 2023 Eventim Apollo set was cut short by his vocal problems, and at Kelvingrove Bandstand in July 2024 his voice started "a bit strained" before getting stronger by "Robin Hood." Earlier reviews (2016 at Hammersmith) called it "as strong as ever."
If *Moseley Shoals* meant something to you, yes, and the 30th anniversary run is the obvious one to catch. What's On gave the 2025 Birmingham arena show five stars. If you only know one or two singles, be ready for the energy to drop when the band leave the big songs.
"The Riverboat Song" for the riff and the crowd singing over it, "Hundred Mile High City" for Cradock's solo, "Profit in Peace" for the room-wide singalong, and "The Day We Caught the Train," which the crowd treats as its own. Reviewers in Cambridge and Birmingham in 2025 also singled out the acoustic "She's Been Writing."
It's bigger and it's about one record. The 2025 run played academies and halls with Kula Shaker; the 2026 run moves to arenas like the OVO Hydro and The O2 with The Enemy, and puts all of *Moseley Shoals* in the set, shuffled rather than in order.
Twice that's documented, both at the Hammersmith Apollo. Cradock is Weller's long-time guitarist, and Weller joined OCS for "The Circle" at Hammersmith in December 2016 and for "The Circle" and "Travellers Tune" at the Eventim Apollo in December 2023. Nobody has announced him for 2026, so treat it as a bonus, not a plan.
Yes, as a separate duo show. "An Evening With Simon and Oscar" strips the songs to Fowler's guitar and Harrison's piano and bass in small rooms; the last run was 14 dates in October 2025.
