What Is It Like to See a Concert at Avicii Arena?

Stockholm, SwedenArena16,000 capacity

The world's biggest spherical building spent 35 years bouncing sound from one side of the dome to the other. Since 2025, 452 movable acoustic panels hang inside it to stop that happening.

What to Know Before You Go

  • 1
    Ride line 19

it's the only green-line branch that stops at Globen station by the dome (more in [Getting There](#getting-there)).

  • 2
    Under-13s don't get in

the age limit at concerts is 13, and it applies even if a parent comes along. It's tied to Swedish rules on sound levels for young people, so don't buy a ticket for a 12-year-old.

  • 3
The bag ban is over, the bag check isn't

the police-ordered ban on bags at big events ran from August 2023 until June 2025. Now the limit is 40 x 40 x 20 cm and every bag gets inspected at entry.

  • 4
No umbrellas, no bottles, no big cameras

umbrellas, bottles of any material, outside food and drink, and system cameras all stay outside. Phones and small compact cameras are usually fine unless the promoter bans photos.

  • 5
Check the event page for coats

the arena says cloakroom availability varies by event and gets posted a few days before. At the spring 2025 Kent shows there was none, which matters in a Stockholm winter.

  • 6
    Once you're out, you're out

a scanned ticket is spent when you leave the building. There's no re-entry.

  • 7
    Forget the smoke break

smoking is banned in and around the arena and there's no smoking area to send you to, so pair that with no re-entry and you're going without all night.

  • 8
    No early camping

queuing is allowed from 07:00 on show day, and camping around the arena is strictly forbidden.

  • 9
Have the Stockholm Live app ready

app-ticketed shows load into it, and App Store reviewers complain about being logged out mid-purchase, so sort your login before the night.

  • 10
    Card or phone only

the arenas are cash-free, bars and merch included.

  • 11
    Lost something?

Lost property goes to the SkyView reception, the desk for the glass gondolas that ride up the outside of the dome.

What It's Actually Like

The Echo Was the Building's Whole Reputation

For most of its life, Globen (locals still call it that) sounded like what it is: a 110-metre ball. A 2010 Flashback thread summed up the complaint in one line, that the sound "åker fram och tillbaka mellan höger och vänster", back and forth between left and right. It got worse than funny in September 2023, when a fan at a Blink-182 show took a refund claim to Sweden's consumer complaints board, and the promoter suggested the building's shape may have played a part. If an older friend warns you the sound here is mush, that's where it comes from.

A Ceiling That Moves Changed the Room

The 2024 rebuild hung 452 acoustic panels on a cable net high inside the dome. They can be reconfigured in about ten minutes, and with them opened up you'll still see all the way to the top of the sphere. A Meyer Sound system with 84 ceiling speakers and 72 microphones works alongside them. Fan verdicts since reopening are split but trending up: a Bandsintown reviewer at Billie Eilish in April 2025 said the sound system let her down at the start, and a TripAdvisor reviewer that same month called the sound poorly balanced. The 2026 reviews read differently.

“Enjoyed the renovated Globe and the sound was very good”
— Bandsintown review, Pentatonix, July 2026

The New Layout Still Catches People Out

Two of the three seating tiers were replaced, and the old red seats gave way to dark grey ones. A TripAdvisor reviewer in April 2025 found it hard to find their seats. Another, at a May 2025 hockey game, went up "on the wrong side at the top" and had to walk all the way down again, with nobody checking tickets on the stairs. Check which side your section's on before you start climbing. One March 2025 reviewer called the new seats rock hard, though that's a single report.

Where You Sit Sets the Energy

The floor and the lower ring carry the noise. At Zara Larsson in November 2025, a Bandsintown reviewer in a premium presale section said the section they were in had nearly no energy compared with the floor and lower tier. A September 2026 TripAdvisor reviewer, on the other hand, liked that the halls never got crowded. If you'd rather be part of the crowd than watch it, buy floor or Stand A.

Section-by-Section Guide

The rebuilt bowl has a flat floor, a lower ring (Stand A), an upper ring (Stand B, 22 rows), two named terraces and a ring of premium boxes. Everything below comes from reviews posted since the arena reopened in February 2025. Older seat advice online describes a bowl that doesn't exist anymore.

Floor and Golden Circle

The floor is flat, so past the first few rows your view depends on who's in front of you. Some shows split off a front standing pen sold as Golden Circle. How long it takes to reach the rail swings wildly by night. One fan on A View From My Seat said they queued 17 hours for barricade at Billie Eilish in April 2025, while another at the same tour stood three or four people back from the barricade after "only 3,5h" in line. That 17-hour figure sits awkwardly next to the arena's ban on early queuing and camping (see What to Know Before You Go).

Two practical details. Standing fans get paper cups rather than the reusable ones used in the seats. And at the spring 2025 Kent shows, the floor bar shut at 21:00 and switched to a kiosk, so get your round in before the headliner if the promoter runs it the same way.

Stand A (the Lower Ring)

This is where the post-renovation reviews are happiest. The rebuild pulled the lower seats closer to the floor and toward the centre, and you can't miss the difference. A reviewer in section A6, row 13, at a 2026 show called it an amazing view and super close to the stage. In A11, row 7, a fan in May 2026 had that tour's B-stage right in front of them. Another reviewer in A11, row 9, at Billie Eilish said the seats were great and the sound was incredible, which is about the strongest single argument that the new ceiling works.

Further round the ring, the reviews stay positive but the value argument weakens. A16, row 11, got a simple "Good view!!" at Zara Larsson. A16, row 17, at a Tame Impala show cost the reviewer about 200 US dollars, and they said it felt like too much for a seat they wished was closer. A24 drew "Amazing seats" from one 2025 reviewer and five stars from another in 2026.

Stairs matter in Stand A. The arena says rows 18 and up are step-free, and the rows below involve stepping down. If anyone in your group struggles with steps, a row in the high teens is the trade to make.

Stand B (the Upper Ring)

Stand B's front rows are the sleeper pick. A reviewer in B6, row 3, said it was even closer in real life than it looked online, and a fan in B21, row 1, at Zara Larsson said the view was great. Entry to Stand B is at row 4, so rows 1 to 3 sit below the walkway.

That walkway has a cost. In B24, row 6, a RAYE fan in 2026 said the seat was great when people weren't standing at the railing, and that security wasn't much help. It's a single report, so treat it as a heads-up about rows 5 and 6 rather than a rule.

Past row 10, the reviews turn to distance. B9, row 17: good view, not super close. B11, row 5: they'd have preferred a lower seat. B24, row 10, at Lady Gaga: "Feels a bit far away", with the reviewer wishing for Stand A and a less side-on angle. Three shows, three reviewers, same message.

Then there's B26. High in B26, around row 18, a metal column partly blocks the stage, and three separate reviews from 2026 shows say so. One reviewer hit it at two different Tame Impala nights and also complained about sitting close to the ceiling; another at a different 2026 show said the seat is sold as side or limited view and it wouldn't be if you took away the pole. Lower in B26 it's fine: reviews from rows 1 and 8 don't mention it.

Best value in the building: Stand A anywhere, or the first six rows of Stand B for less money. Think twice about: high rows of B26, and the upper half of Stand B on the sides.

Klarna Terrace East and Coca-Cola Terrace West

The two terraces appear on the arena's own seating maps. Two reviews from Terrace East 24 are worth knowing about before you buy. From row 1 at a 2026 show, a reviewer couldn't see the top of the screen. From row 4 at Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball, another said a glass barrier separates each row and it was hard to see all the decor on the main stage. If the show leans on a tall video wall, the terrace is a gamble. We found no reviews from Terrace West.

Gondolas, The 1989 and the Suites

The rebuild turned the old top tier into five gondola boxes and replaced the upper gallery with suites. The 1989 is the bookable premium package: a cocktail bar and wine cellar before the show, premium seats with drinks brought to you, its own entrance opening two hours before, and the option to stay up to an hour after. No public price is listed. The one fan note on premium energy is that Zara Larsson review above. One 2025 review from a section labelled C6 also mentions a pole in the view, but it's a single report and we can't map it to the new layout.

Accessibility Seating

Wheelchair spaces are in Stand A, and for most events you book them on the arena's website or in the Stockholm Live app, falling back to AXS if that doesn't work. One companion is free, seated beside or behind the space; extra companions need a disability certificate at the door. Section A18, row 17, has seats for guests who need a companion, with the companion directly behind. For limited mobility, the step-free rows are Stand A from row 18 up and Stand B from row 4. Assistance dogs can come to accessible seats if you book through info@stockholmlive.com. We found no fan reports on how the views from these spots hold up when the rows in front stand.

Getting There

Transit

The arena's on the green line from T-Centralen, but only one branch serves it directly. South of Gullmarsplan the line splits: line 19 toward Hagsätra stops at Globen station beside the dome, while lines 17 (Skarpnäck) and 18 (Farsta strand) go via Skärmarbrink instead. Both work. Skärmarbrink, Gullmarsplan, Blåsut, Sandsborg and Enskede gård are all listed by the arena as walkable alternatives. It's also on the Tvärbanan cross-town tram: line 30 stops at Globen and Gullmarsplan; commuter-train riders change to it at Årstaberg. Buses terminate at Gullmarsplan, about five minutes' walk away.

Driving + Parking

There are two big garages: Globen Shopping, with about 1,500 spaces, and Arenagaraget under 3Arena next door, with about 650. Neither publishes event prices. A third-party Stockholm parking guide says the area is effectively full two hours before a sold-out event and that the garage can take 30 to 45 minutes to empty afterwards; that's a single source, so treat it as a warning, not a promise. Promoters push the metro hard for a reason. For the 2025 Kent shows the advice was simply to leave the car at home.

Rideshare and Drop-Off

There's no published rideshare zone. The arena's own step-free drop-off point is the front entrance of the Quality Hotel Globe, where a lift takes you up to the arena square and staff can walk you to your seat.

Walking and Biking

From Södermalm it's about 20 minutes on foot over Skanstullsbron. Cyclists get a dedicated route, Arenaleden, from Medborgarplatsen, and there are 1,000 bike spaces at 3Arena.

Getting Out

Don't default to Globen station. Gullmarsplan is the one stop all three green-line branches share, so a short walk there gets you every northbound train rather than only the 19. If you drove, budget for that 30 to 45 minute garage wait the parking guide describes.

Food, Drink, and Merch

What's There

The rebuilt arena's outlets are named concepts: Home of Heineken does burgers, pizza, fries and salads; Papa Luna is a sit-down Italian with three-course menus; The Pub leans on international beers; and there's The Fans Bar, Legends, Garden Bar & Restaurant, Champagnebaren and the Foods 'n Stuff snack counters. We couldn't find a single verified post-renovation price, so we won't guess at one.

The Strategy

The bars usually serve alcohol from age 20, not 18, so younger fans should expect to be turned away at the tap. Seated areas use reusable cups. If you're on the floor, remember the paper cups and, at least at the Kent shows, a bar that closed at 21:00. If you want Papa Luna, you're booking a dinner, not grabbing a slice between songs.

Merch

We didn't find any venue-branded merch, so the stands are all about the tour. Nothing here suggests a booth worth queuing for before doors.

Venue History

Globen opened on 19 February 1989, designed by Svante Berg and Lars Vretblad, and it's still the largest spherical building on Earth: 110 metres across and 65 metres high inside. It was Stockholm Globe Arena until Ericsson bought the name in 2009, and it became Avicii Arena on 19 May 2021, honouring Tim Bergling, who died in 2018, and tying the building to mental-health work. Note that the Avicii Experience museum is in central Stockholm, not here.

Pink Floyd played the opening year, U2 came in 1992 and 2001, and Metallica set the attendance record of 17,303 on 5 May 2018. The arena hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 and 2016 and Melodifestivalen finals for over a decade.

The arena closed in January 2024 for a rebuild of about 830 million kronor, built by NCC to designs by HOK with C.F. Møller and schlaich bergermann. It reopened on 1 February 2025 with a sold-out KITE show. The outside didn't change: the SkyView gondolas, running since 2010, still crawl up the south face of the dome.

Frequently Asked Questions

The one with a repeated complaint is high in section B26, where a metal column cuts into the view (see the [Section-by-Section Guide](#section-by-section-guide)). Terrace East is the other caution for screen-heavy shows, since a row 1 reviewer couldn't see the top of the screen.

It varies hugely: one Billie Eilish fan reported a 17-hour wait for barricade in April 2025, while another got within a few rows of it after three and a half hours.

Every bag is inspected, and anything over 40 x 40 x 20 cm, plus umbrellas, bottles and system cameras, stays outside. Screening uses alarm gates, handheld metal detectors or hand searches. If you read older advice saying no bags at all, that was the police ban that ended in June 2025, though an individual promoter can still set stricter terms.
